Renault Kangoo Bebop

Based closely on the Kangoo Compact Concept show car unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show,
Renault Kangoo be bop is the latest addition to the Kangoo line-up. The compact size of this quirky
vehicle (length: 3.87 metres), plus its original two-tone colour scheme and exclusive interior
appointments ensure that it stands out in a crowd, while its extensive glazed area and four roomy seats
exude a sensation of space and light. Ideal for escaping the crowd, Kangoo be bop offers open-top
motoring at the rear thanks to a glazed sliding roof and a rear tailgate window that slides down out of
sight. There are also two overhead tilting glass panels at the front, plus a fixed central glass panel.
Renault Kangoo be bop is available with a choice of two of the Kangoo range’s top-end powerplants
(1.6 16V 105, dCi 105) and comes with a raft of equipment aimed at enhancing its looks, comfort and
safety. In its striking Etincelle Orange livery, Renault Kangoo be bop stands out as a fun-loving car, while
the Pearlescent Black or Pavot Red version exudes the class of a chic city car. It consequently has a range
of personalities, and is ideal for customers who want to move away from the norm, with a car that
expresses their joie de vivre.

AN INTERIOR BATHED IN LIGHT,
PLUS THE JOYS OF OPEN-AIR MOTORING
The panoramic windscreen and extensive glazed areas that sweep across
both sides of the car are not the only reasons for this pleasant sensation of
light that strikes occupants the instant they climb onboard Kangoo be bop.
They only need to look up to see that Kangoo be bop’s roof is practically
entirely glazed. Indeed, the model’s total glazed area is 3.9 square metres.
Kangoo be bop features the same convertible roof configuration seen on
the concept car, with a fully glazed, forward-sliding panel at the rear. With
the rear section of the roof and rear window in the open position, Renault
Kangoo be bop’s rear passengers can enjoy the delights of open-air
motoring. The roof opens at an angle which creates a deflecting effect to
prevent bothersome turbulence while on the move. Its ‘open’ and ‘closed’
positions are secured by two side locks. It opens independently of the
tailgate with the help of two small arms.
The wide, fixed central glazed panel further contributes to the cabin’s
brightness, while the two tilting glass panels at the front ensure that front
occupants also get a taste of the open air. Even when open, these panels
do not interfere with the forward-sliding rear roof. The glazed roof panels
have all been treated to filter out the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

The upper-range version of the 1.5-litre dCi powerplant, which also
features in the Clio, Modus, Mégane, Scénic and New Laguna ranges,
delivers peak power of 105hp at 4,000rpm in the case of Kangoo be
bop, plus 240Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Thanks to its secondgeneration
common rail injection, variable geometry turbo and 1,600-
bar injector pressure, this powerplant yields nimble performance for
combined cycle fuel consumption of just 5.4 litres/100km, which is
equivalent to 142g of CO2/km. Fuel efficiency is enhanced by the use of
piezo-electric injectors and the six-speed manual gearbox. Noise is
minimal thanks to the twin-mass flywheel damper which reduces boom
at low engine revs. Depending on market, a particulate filter with a fifth
injector located in the exhaust line are also available for this engine.

The 1.6 16V petrol engine develops 105hp at 5,750rpm and maximum
torque of 148Nm at 3,750rpm. It delivers outstanding driveability and
low combined cycle fuel consumption (7.7 litres/100km) thanks to the
use of lightweight materials and a timing system based on roller cam
followers.
